Of the three- wine, but that can be a VERY personal taste. Too many different food allergies come into play trying to give cheese and crackers (milk, wheat, soy...)
I also like a candle on a pretty antique saucer, a bouquet of flowers like Gerber daisies, or a plant in a really cool looking pot.

A wine and cheese gift basket is a good idea, but somewhat overdone. If the person you're buying a gift for is a very good friend, I would suggest a handwritten "certificate" for a day of free maid service provided by yourself. It is so much more personal and your friend won't get nervous about having a stranger in her home.

It is always best to go with food. I had heard it was bad luck not to give food. I don't remeber where I heard that form, So it is alway food when i give housewarming gifts.

Scented candles from Yankee Candle Co. or you may make your own gift basket by throwing in a little bit of everything, like scented candles, spa products, champagne, chocolates, etc. so
eveyone in the house may enjoy your gift, be it male, female or child.

I would go for the wine. Even if they don't drink, they could use it to entertain others at some point.
Just for a different suggestion...bamboo is thought to bring good luck and prosperity so a nice bamboo dish garden would be nice too.

if it's a family, male, or single woman you would like to impress--wine/cheese/crackers.
if it's a female that you just want to be friends with--bath products.
:-)
