Not necessarily. HPV can cause abnormal paps for women, but it's not always the cause for an abnormal pap.

And, yes, HPV is most likely the cause of abnormal cells on the cervix. About 12 strains of HPV can cause cancer in people, including cervical cancer for women.

Once a women has HPV and has an abnormal pap, chances are she will probably have more in the future. I have had two abnormal paps, the first one turned into cervical cancer, when I was just 17 and the second one turned out to be nothing.

No it does not mean that. It means there is a chance that you could have it. It is a simple test that many doctors are doing during the pap. I recently had an abnormal pap and my hpv screening came back normal. Because of this they decided that my abnormal pap was due to being close to my period or high levels of sexual intercourse. Get the HPV screening. It will keep you from having to do a biopsy. I had that happen 10 years ago. Just make sure you have your pap every year until you no longer have an abnormal pap. Sometimes the doctor will recommend every 3-6 months while you are testing abnormal.

HPV is Human Papilloma Virus and is associated with genital warts and cervical cancer. That does not mean that all abnormal paps mean HPV or cervical cancer. It means that follow up tests are required to verify and determine the cause of the abnormal pap. Your physician will be able to help you with this.

Are you heavily going to come back to this end so quick? I had an 'fantastic pap' and it changed into only a small cyst, that posed no damage. surely OP, only cool down. Theres no reason to sweat about it in case you do not even comprehend what that is.
