direct chocolate consumption will not in and of itself lead to diabetes. however, it could lead to obesity which is one of the leading risk factors for diabetes. ever heard the cliche 'all things taken in moderation'? this holds true for chocolate as well. chocolate has been proven to actually be beneficial when taken in moderation, lowering ldl levels and raising hdl levels in some studies. moral of the story, don't eat so much that you become overweight! ;)

No chocolate in itself will not lead to diabetes, but poor diet can contribute to it,one of the main indicators is if there is a history of diabtes in your family.
I was diagnosed with type 2 two years ago,my mother and grandfather and grandmother are or were all type 1.
If you can eat a healthy balanced diet and avoid obesity then you will go a long way to preventing the onset of the condition.
I wish I had listened to my mother 5 years ago !

No. Only eat chocolate in moderation. Like a small piece of chocolate, such as Dove. Dark chocolate has been known to lower blood pressure. Don't eat a whole box of chocolates, or a Hershey bar each day! That is very unhealthy.

type 2 diabetes is often found to be as a result of a poor diet. it can be avoided by following the canada food guide. there is nothing wrong with having occasional chocolate if your body allows it but what happens if you have it all the time is that your body craves it and your sugar levels go crazy.
you eat sugar, your sugars go sky high. then you crash. your sugars go below the normal range. (this is everybody) you might even notice a bit of change in mood) this is what usually causes the sugar craving as you need to get the levels up. you eat more chocolta eor other sugar and UP YOU GO AGAIN! then you crash again and crave more sugar. eventually your body is gonna get tired of this cycle.

not at all. in contrary,a new study in Italy suggests that consuming flavonoid-rich dark chocolate could improve the body's processing of sugar. That, in theory, could guard against diabetes.
but chocolate can lead to other harmful problems like cavities for instance...
