The best pizza is in New York City from any great authentic Italian-American restaurant. Family-owned and ovens seasoned with the crust of time make for the best loved pizza in the world. Your choice of toppings, of course!

I have had 2 "Best Pizzas".
The first was a "Potato Pizza" made with olive oil on the crust instead of tomato sauce or tomatoes. It was topped with sliced cooked potatoes, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with rosemary. FABULOUS! Then, after some years, the restaurant changed cooks and nobody knows how to make it and I haven't had it since.
The second was in a bakery in Steyr, Austria. The "pizza" was sold by the piece and was more of a deli delight/open-faced sandwich - overlapping layers of cold cuts including ham and salami, etc. and cheese. It was AWESOME!

My first time in NY we stopped by this little hole in the wall pizza place on Jamaica Ave. The sauce was so fresh; everything was so fresh and delicious.
Since we don't have that here I would have to say Papa John's pan pizza. But nothing beats a New York pie!

Base: Thin crispy base made with tipo 00 flour, semolina, olive oil, honey and fresh yeast
Sauce: Sweet Tomato and fresh Basil sauce
Toppings: Real Italian Salami, Jalapeno, Artichokes and Avo (Avo to be put on raw - when the pizza has been cooked)

This must be made in a very hot traditional wood fire oven.
