Cold sores (herpes simplex virus 1)
HIV (rare but possible)
Syphilis (intimate touching or kissing)

If your partner had an STD and both of you had sores in your mouth that were open, there is a chance you can get it from kissing if blood passed from one person to another.

You can get a lot of STDs from kissing--but only they infect the mouth instead of the genital area. You can get herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, HPV all from kissing--IF the other person has an ORAL infection with these diseases.

yes! if the person has a "cold sore" which is Herpes simplex 1, and that person gives you oral sex, that virus gets transferred to your genitals and becomes Herpes simplex 2 which is the herpes you hear about
