Based on what I've read, anything over 800 is pretty darned serious. Equally important, is low sugar levels. Anything below 70, is cause for concern and below 40 is downright scary. Fortunately, I've never been over 200 and never under 75.
Jennifersue.... over 100 is NOT 'life threatening'. 200 is NOT life threatening. Get a clue. Sure, consistently being over 120 for extended periods of time can LEAD to complications, it is most definitely not life threatening. Don't try to scare people like that. It's just wrong.

Anything over 100? Okay, that is WAY off. About 115 is healthy
140 is a goal for diabetics. Anything above this does slow damage to the body. The 800 number? I think that would send you to the emergency room with some pretty severe symptoms.

First of all, ANY condition where serum glucose exceeds 200ml/dl for extended periods will cause damage to other organs and tissues in the body.
Unconsciousness can occur with levels as low as 300 in some people...I have a friend who occasionally peaks 500+ and remains conscius, although hallucinatory...
Bottom line is that LONG TERM, high blood sugar will KILL YOU!!!...Keeping it under control takes a complete change of lifestyle...
