He knows it's a serious condition. He probably just doesn't want to dwell on it and wants to live as if he's fine. If he's doing something that he needs to stop, then all you can do is remind him, "This isn't good for you..." Chances are he knows and he doesn't care. Nobody can change him but himself. All you can do is tell him that you love him and want him around as long as possible.

I think the term "heart FAILURE" should be enough to frighten any person. One day, if left untreated, his heart will fail, his cardiac muscle will die from lack of oxygen, and he will perish. I'm sorry to be so graphic because you are obviously a concerned wife, but I think you need to convey to him how serious this is. This is literally a matter of life or death. Do whatever you can. Get pamphlets from the doctor's, ask the doctor to come and do a home visit (or convince your hubby to visit them), speak to him, beg him to seek treatment. He will have a much better prospect if he seeks treatment and maintains a healthy lifestyle. I wish you all the best.

Your husband knows its a serious condition , but is ignorant to it ans has convinced himself its something less serious. The only thing that you can do is call an ambulance without his knowledge and he will be assessed acording to the paramedics and the knowledge of his medical history given to them by you ,or just ring them and explain it to them and I am sure you will get a positive response. Let the testing convince him because I would be suprised if someone as close as you could convince him.

HI,
Unfortunately with many people facing a long term condition the initial response is denial....Give your husband time to come to terms with it himself, You can help by knowing you are there for him, Evidence has shown light exercise helps both go out for a stroll after a meal and if you do most of the cooking cut out the fats. The only person that can convince is themselves give him time you both have to adjust to a different lifestyle. Get advise from your practice nurse. hope this helps.

So sorry . Maybe you could get some pamphlets from the doctor or go on web md and print out the information and leave it for him to read. even if you have to put it in the bathroom ,where most men do their reading.... Good Luck he may not want to except it now but sooner or later he will want to know what's going on with his heart. and remind him that he needs to take care of himself for you and your kids( if you have any.)

Print off somethings here on the internet, and show him just how important this matter is...It's very dangerous! Take him to a doctor and let the doctor sit with him and explain what can happen...

maybe point out to him the role his heart plays in keeping him alive, and the consequences if such a vital thing were to FAIL i.e. STOP. see what he thinks about the prospect of sitting around waiting for his heart to just stop.

and if that doesn't get him, drag him to a doctor and have them explain it to him. ask them to include all the grisly details

Surely the thing here is to find out why he doesn't think its serious. If he knows he has it then he has probably been through all the "proffesional chats" that he wants to listen too.

Perhaps he wants to enjoy the rest of his life and enjoy it his way.

Sit and talk to him. Find out

Get a doctor or other health personel to call him about it. Many people don't think that serious problems can hit them.

make him read the leaflets from the doctor? the respect that is habitually paid to the medical profession may have a stronger argument value than your concern.
