I have a lot of trouble breathing sometimes. I did my research and I think I have asthma, but I don't know what to do about it. (Talking to my parents won't work.)

When we had the 1 mile run at school, I essentially had an asthma attack, so they sent me to the school health office. They called my parents and told them to take me to the doctor. My parents said they would but never did. Does that help any?

I don't really know how to talk to my parents about it either. I'm not very good at talking to people.

Go see a doctor, if you can't do that go to your school nurse and let them contact your parents, if you do have asthma, it could be life threatening, and you don't always have a warning before an attack.

My mom totally didn't believe me when I got asthma. But, she eventually warmed up. I would try to get to a doctor. Maybe if you're in school, talk to your school nurse or counselor.
Also, asthma is related to allergies. Do you have allergies, if so, then I would try to figure out what really bothers you. When you can't breathe, is there something around you that bothers you? I have asthma and I was recently able to get off my inhalers because I got control of my allergies. You might be able to take some control of your asthma by controlling your environment - like avoiding really hot days outside, allergins and cleaning. Most importantly, keep looking for information!
Try to talk to you parents if you can - ultimately, you need medical help. I'm sorry they're not more helpful.

You should probably see an allergy and asthma specialist. They can get you the medicine and inhalers you need if you do have asthma.
Try trusting your parents. I can't imagine a parent that wouldn't want to help their child if they have asthma. If for some reason yours don't--try calming yourself when you have an attack. Sit or lie on your side. Slow your breathing & try to take deep breaths. Usually that will help my attacks to subside. Also, you could try steam. Like, let the shower run with hot water and the bathroom door shut for a while. Sometimes that helps too.
Also, you could try seeing your school's nurse about it for some advice. Good luck to you.

I too have asthma although, not bad.
your first step would be to get to the doctor to see if it isn't a chronic illness.
If it is asthma thats okay even if you are into sports and stuff just keep an inhaler with you and if you get in any trouble use it and
if your parents don't believe you tell them if you die from an asthma attack your goin to sue them that usually works
but if you really think you have asthma get to the doctor and he'll tell you what to do.

I'm an asthmatic as are my oldest and youngest sons. It could be allergies, it could be the humidity but your Dr. is better qualified to make the diagnosis and give you a treatment plan. He may prescribe an albuterol inhaler and/or singular. You can die from a severe asthma attack so GO!!

Well...when do you get short of breath?..is it with resting or is it worse with walking or exercise?..Do you notice it at any time of day or any season (Is it worse in the fall or spring?)..Do you feel tight in the chest with your shortness of breath? and do you cough up colored sputum like green or yellow?..Do you smoke cigarettes?..There can be several things going on but it is important for a doctor to examine you...Why won't your folks take you to the doctor?..When you have these attacks you need to show them how you are feeling..if they ignore you then talk with a older brother or sister or another relative to get help..it could be serious if left untreated..good luck

go to your doctor, i no that everyones telling u to do this but seriously go!
even if your parents wont listen to you there is no rule saying that u cant go on your own :)
and if u dont go u could die from an asthma attack, if u have nothing to prevent it that is (your doctor can give you things to prevent attacks aswell as to things to help during an attack)
hope this helps

Tell them you need to go see a doctor. (you can go by yourself, you don't need a parent, but it helps) You could go to an allergist (they take of allergies and asthma problems) your problems may be partly allergies. You can get on medication to help you to be able to breathe better.

Go to the school nurse, I am sure they will recommend your parents to take you to the Dr. and get you help. My mother never took me either and because, she didn't take me I have chronic bronchitis and asthma.
