most people go vegan not because they are fanatics but because they see the way that dairy cows and hens are treated. You wouldn't believe the cruelty that is involved in getting the milk from a cow and the egg from a chicken in those places. They turn an innocent thing into pain for them. Not all of these places do it but a lot of them do and you don't know the exact place your eggs came from do you? I am a vegan but I eat eggs if they are farm fresh. We know a girl who sells her chickens fresh eggs for cheap. I know she doesn't use cruelty to get them so I eat them. They even taste exceptionally better. The yolk is a rich orange.

A vegan is someone who does not use any animal products.

People who cook for vegans cannot give them any "non animal" meat products, like milk, cheese, eggs, butter, worchestershire sauce (has anchovies in it!) jello (Made from animal proteins) Honey (those poor bees) and a certain red dye, number 40, I think, which is made from the exoskeletons of a certain beetle.

Also unlike catholic vegetarians, they won't eat fish or lamb.

Beyond food, vegans sometimes have a "vegan" lifestyle, where they do not use wool or leather, or silk (from silk worms!) and will not keep pets. A lot of them even refuse to use candles that have animal fats, or lotions that have lanolin. They generally avoid using pesticides to kill off unwanted bugs or gophers, and they're often members of PETA.

Vegans take vegetarianism to an extreme level. It is like their religion. They won't eat any animals or anything that came from an animal including dairy products & eggs. They won't even touch anything that may have traces of such things (like cookies baked with eggs) In comparison, there are vegetarians who may not eat red meat, but eat fish & chicken, or who eat no meat, but will still eat dairy products.

Veganism is a philosophy and lifestyle that avoids using animals and animal products for food, clothing and other purposes. In practice, a vegan (an adherent to veganism) commits to the abstention from consumption or use of all animal products, including meat, fish, poultry, honey, eggs and dairy products, as well as articles made of fur, wool, bone, leather, feathers, pearls, mother of pearl, coral, and other materials of animal origin. Many vegans also avoid products that have been tested on animals. People who avoid eating all animal products, but who otherwise use animal by-products (for example, leather shoes) are commonly referred to as dietary vegans.

People become vegans for a variety of reasons, including ethical concerns such as animal rights and the environment, as well as more personal reasons such as health benefits[1] and spiritual or religious concerns. A Time/CNN poll published in Time Magazine on July 7, 2002, found that 4% of American adults consider themselves vegetarians, and 5% of self-described vegetarians consider themselves vegans. This suggests that 0.2% of American adults are vegans.

A Vegan is an angry anti-establishment political activist that tortures their omnivorous body in a vain effort to attract attention to their depressingly pointless cause. Vegan dogma uses thinly veiled and scientifically unfounded food myths and urban legends to warp impressionable minds into thinking that Veganism is somehow a good and noble cause. In reality it's a pathetic way to recruit angry youths into the global anti-corporate mob. Vegans make me very sad. Politics don't belong in the kitchen anymore than they belong in the bedroom.
