Has anyone ever tried genuine Japanese Kobe Beef? Can it really be as good as I've heard it is? Is it worth £60 a plate? Please let me know!

Yes!!!!! A few times, someone paid .. haha.. business dinners!!!!

I've tried teppanyaki kobe beef steak and also the raw thin slices dip with a mixture (i guess it was soy sauce + chopped green onion + ginger?+ lemon juice? + sake) as appetizer. Both are very very good and I personally like the raw ones!

I bought 800 g kobe beef steak in a department store in Kinza (Tokyo) and brought back to Hong Kong (only 4.5 hours flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong). The beef looked very fresh and they packed it very well with dry ice + the price (around US$110 per 100g) was a lot cheaper than we ordered it from restaurants in Hong Kong! That night, I just fried the steak with black pepper + sea salt, shared with my parents and my bros, yummy .. yummy .. yummy!!!!

It's worth to try it, at least once in your life, treat yourself and your beloved ones good.

It's overpriced and overrated. Kobe beef has more to do with status than flavor or texture. Something has to be the most expensive steak on the planet right?

Well, it is beer-fed beef and it is really tender, but I haven't gotten the guts up to order it at $100 a plate

Okay .. I've never tried it, but just recently my husband and I were talking about where we could find it in our area. I't supposed to be incredible. but did you know that there is also something that is here in the USA that is very similar but is much cheaper because it is bred right here. Maybe they have this where you are. Anyway it's worth checking into.

Yes tried it. Don't really care for it.

There is something to be said for beef with texture (small amount of toughness isn't all bad!) over something that is so "tender" as to be spongelike and down-right mushy!

Cheers

I have not tried it personally but my best friend just loves it and goes out for it just once or twice a year for a treat, suggestion take someone you know who likes it with you to the restaurant (go Dutch) and have them order it and share your meals.
