Fish is probably your best choice for healthy meat. Poultry is good also. Any low fat meats are acceptable though. Choose low fat ground turkey as opposed to ground beef. Stay away from fried meats as much as possible. I believe 7 ounces of protein is recommended by the ADA, which is about the size of a deck of cards.
Desserts low in carbohydrates and fat are your best choices. Low carb ice cream or no sugar added.
Or try baking with Splenda which tastes a lot like sugar but almost has zero carbs.

Stage#2 diabetes means that you make insulin, but not enough. By adjusting your diet you can escape diabetes, and be free from all of it's effects, but you have to become a veggie..no red meat, less sugar, but instead fruit, which contains sugar. Check with a professional dietitian, most urgent if you want to live.

meat? hmmm you can fry it as well as you are using a heart friendly oil, better if it was grilled red meat. if it was checken meat then i suggest you remove the skin- dont consume it
desserts- any dessert just as long as it is an artificial sweetener
for diabetics- the trick for their diet is that
"eat when you feel hungry and stop eating when your hunger pangs stops" and consume 40% less than your usual diet. and gradually improve on it

proteins are slower reacting for your blood sugar levels, but you have to watch everything.... stay away from fried.

I make a great s/f cheesecake.... get a tub of cottage cheese... sugar free jello.... (any flavor you like) and s/f cookies.... smash the cookies into a crust and put them in a pie pan... boil the jello with a 1/2 cup of water... then put the cottage cheese and jello in a blender ... blend till smooth and pour into crust...... this is great!

Make sure the meat is broiled, not fried. Better yet, boil it. Your desserts should be sugarless.
