Yes. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years, and honestly, it is one of the last things I ever think about. Unless I am having an outbreak, I RARELY think about the virus.

You can definitely enjoy your sex life and relationships the same as if you didn't have the virus (you'll just have to be a little more careful now).

I am engaged to a great guy right now. We have a perfectly happy sex life and are planning on marrying soon. Don't let herpes affect your sex life. As long as you take medication and practice safe sex, so you don't pass it on to someone else, you should be fine! Good luck!

If you are taking medication for this you should have less outbreaks. As you probably know it still can be transmitted when you are not having an active breakout, and it is transmitted skin to skin contact so condoms are not very effective. Talk to your health care provider about extra precautions.
