All these tests look for the antibodies to the virus to see if your body has produced any and can tell at that time. If there are atibodies present then there is of course the greater chance of the virus being present. Most of these tests are very specific in nature as to what they are looking for. Plus it is better to get tested by a lab rather than an over the counter one. These are ok but can give false negatives or false positives as there are specific ways of testing that can only be done on a professional level. You might have HIV but not test Positive for months or even years later. Thats why it is recommended that you have at least two done within aprox. 6mtns of each other.
Your testing for other STD's are different in scope

The test is only looking for the HIV virus, not any other STD. The test is just about as reliable as the one you get a the doctor but the virus can sit around for awhile in your system and you might test negative so you should always use a condom during sex.
There are free clinics you can go to if you can't afford testing. It's usually a blood and urine test, sometime they do a genital scraping to look at cellular growth, it's pretty painless.

HIV testing only tests for HIV and so the best idea would be going to walk in clinic. At least doctor from walk in clinic does not know you and they will keep this test totally confidential. You need PAP test for Stds, and blood test for HIV.

Technically certain, yet its nonetheless no longer a assure. They act as a barrier. HIV is exceeded from one man or woman to a distinct by using blood or semen. The condom prevents the semen from shifting into the different man or woman and so reduces the threat. It only works if the condom is used acceptable and no actual fluids are transferred. Condoms act as a barrier between the guy's genitals and the interior of the body of his better half; latex rubber (and maximum different sorts of rubber) have a very tight molecular matrix that is only too slender for HIV cells to head through, no longer to point fluids. for the time of sex (even before ejaculation) fluid is produced by using a guy's penis and/or a woman's vagina, which serves diverse organic and organic purposes starting from lubrication to sterilisation; regrettably, this fluid can comprise HIV if the owner is contaminated. although the floor faraway from the genitals is thick and demanding for viruses to penetrate, that is plausible for the time of sex for a guy to develop into contaminated by using soaking up the HIV virus through his urethra, and for a lady to develop into contaminated by using soaking up the HIV virus through her vaginal walls, urethra, or uterus. subsequently, even if an uninfected guy is having sex with an contaminated lady or guy, or perhaps if the guy is contaminated and his better half isn't, a condom can help you shrink the threat that the better half will receive any of the HIV cells. of route, that is taken into account necessary to communicate about that the most advantageous prevention antagonistic to sexual transmission of HIV is to chorus from sex. also condoms can damage and be only ninety 9.9% sensible. I factor this out because there is continuously a probability a condom may be ineffective.
