I'm trying to understand the question...

You have genital herpes and you want to know if it is okay for a female to give you oral sex if you do not currently have an outbreak? Right?

Genital herpes can cause cold sores, but this is actually the least common way of transmission. You are more likely to get genital herpes from a girl who has cold sores. In fact 30% of people with genital herpes got it from cold sores.

My fiance and I both have genital herpes. I have had it for over 5 years and he has had it about 8 months. We give and receive oral sex from each other a few times a week. Neither of us has ever got cold sores from giving each other oral sex. Of course we NEVER give or receive oral sex if one of us is having an outbreak though. So bottom line, it is possible but REALLY rare to be transmitted this way. If you are really concerned your best bet is to probably use a condom.

Persons with herpes should abstain from sexual activity with uninfected partners when lesions or other symptoms of herpes are present. It is important to know that even if a person does not have any symptoms he or she can still infect sex partners. Sex partners of infected persons should be advised that they may become infected. Sex partners can seek testing to determine if they are infected with HSV. A positive HSV-2 blood test most likely indicates a genital herpes infection.

Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected.

HSV-1 can cause genital herpes, but it more commonly causes infections of the mouth and lips, so-called "fever blisters." HSV-1 infection of the genitals can be caused by oral-genital or genital-genital contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection. Genital HSV-1 outbreaks recur less regularly than genital HSV-2 outbreaks.

Herpes can be spread ANY time. Whether there is an outbreak or not. I hope you are REALLY into this girl, because, unless you take extraordinary precaution EVERY time you have sexual contact, you will probably get it. YOU DO NOT WANT HERPES II ON YOUR FACE.

Herpes can be spread even when there is no outbreak, and it can be spread even with a condom.
