Actually there are 2 forms...SVT and PSVT. SVT is obvisouly Supraventricular Tachycardia and PSVT is Paroxysmal onset with a heart rate of 150-250. It happens for several reasons. It can be caused by stress, overexertion, smoking, or caffeine but, it's also frequently associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. It can also happen with Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome. Fortunately it's rare with heart attacks.

It is a type of tachycardia, that begins and ends suddenly. While the normal resting heart rate is approximately 60-100 beats per minute, an attack of this kind may cause a heart rate as fast as 160-200 beats per minute. People with PVST have attacks that can last anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. The abnormal heart rate originates in heart tissue other than the ventricles of the heart, and is triggered by an event.
PVST is not usually life-threatening, but it can cause permanent damage to the muscles of the heart. Frequent attacks of tachycardia can cause the heart muscle to lose the ability to pump effectively. This may limit a person’s physical activity.
Hope I helped!
