If you only smoke 2-3 per day quit now. It will increase over time. The statistics are that 100% of all smokers given that they live long enough will develop emphysema. So you can die young and avoid emphysema which is a vey bad disease. I can describe the states of some of my former patients. Can't move without and oxygen tank, heart so weak the fluids retain in the lower extremities so that they look like they have elephantitis, the skin cracks and weeps too.

Why would you want to bet on lung cancer? My father smoked, he died of lung cancer, his brother smoked and he died at 40 of lung cancer, my mothers sister smoked and she died of lung cancer at 68.

You can bet I've never touched one cigarette in my life.

same if you dont smoke or you smoke 100 a day if your gonna die of something it might as well be something other than a road accident, ok the more you smoke the more likely you are to have chest or lung problems eventually but your body gonna break in some way eventually its called old age and body degeneration, there are plenty of other carcinogens out there that could cause cancer anyway not just tobacco...a major one still is fall out from various nuclear accidents and tests

Just as likely as if you smoked 2-3 packs a day. It's not the amount that makes a difference. It's still the same chemical exposure that's harmful to your body. Just like "light" and "ultra-light" cigarettes are just as harmful (and sometimes more) than a normal one.

pack years = number of packs a day X years smoked

although you smoke 2-3 times a day, that doesn't mean you should keep smoking because it is a safe number. when a person reached a 25 pack year quota -- he/she is at BIG risk at having an irreversible lung disease (cannot be cured).

but that doesn't mean that just because you are below the 25 quota, means you are safe. just remember our body types are different

Lower than someone who smokes a pack a day, but not nonexistent. Also think of the risk you're putting the people around you in.

Very likely. So keep smoking, ok? We need a reduction of population anyway.
