Surpaventricular tachycardia...a heart rate over 160...sometimes when it happens you can do a valsalva manuever to stop it..you bear down like youre having a bowel movement...but if it doesnt subside then you need to go to the ER to be given a medication that will stop it and return your heart rate back to normal...talk to your cardiologist more about it..its important that you know how to deal with it when it happens...

svt = supraventricular tachycardia.

it is when the nodes that fire your heart (which are located above the ventricles, therefore, supraventricular) begin to fire too quickly, sometimes making your pulse rate high.
