In other words are they a**holes?

The ones I've met won't eat animal flesh but they'll chew a chunck out of your hide if you cross them.

Elaine814 - I'm sorry. A vegan is a radical vegetarian.

Most of them are hypocrites. It's fine if you want to be vegan but why act superior about it? It's meaningless as far as health. Eating a balanced diet is a far better bet and you don't have to be a total carnivore. Just stop grazing like a rhino.

I'd sooner see people proclaim they never drink sugar-loaded pop or fruit juices. That would solve more of the world' s health problems.

As a bookkeeper at a health food store as well as someone who has a vegan for a roommate, I must say that vegans remind me of extreme Christians:
1) They think their lifestyle is the only acceptable lifestyle
2) They look down on others for not being vegan
3) They feel the need to make an example of non-vegans

Also, alot of vegans out there are hypocritical for driving cars because someone had to die for that oil!

To be a vegan is a LIFESTYLE CHOICE, just like how non-veganism is.

jaghoppisigen: Vegan is no animals and no animal by-products. No preservatives additives or hormones is organic. You are thinking of Kosher.

No they are not. The only things that I have done to the people around me is to insist that they get rid of a lot of the junkfood in the house and replace it with healthy food. My family was a bit turned off by the idea of no junk food but they are all over weight and if they wont go vegitarian (not quite vegan) then the least i can do is insist on better eating habits. I threatened to go on a hunger strike if they kept bad food in the house

No. I know a girl who's vegan, and she's one of the most considerate, socially-oriented and caring people I'm acquainted with. You simply never discuss her diet choice with her--but grilling someone about their diet is usually not considered a polite conversation practice, anyways.

And no offense, man, but most people are more than willing to take a chunk out of someone's hide if that person crosses them...probably yourself included.

I don't think diet--for the most part--has a lot to do with how someone interacts with others, and definitely don't believe it's the primary factor in someone being an @s$hole.

"A vegan is a radical vegetarian."

The definition of a vegan is one who does not consume animal products of any sort and tends to favor organic produce. If they seem radical it is because they firmly believe in what they are doing and because meat-eaters chew them out regularly and they are very tired of it all. I am very tired of it all. Just because I do not eat meat I get treated like a weirdo. I have my reasons. And believe me these are very painful and thought out reasons. If you pick on me I will lash back. If you give me stupid arguments such as "plants have feelings too, why do you eat plants?" I will consider myself superior.

All in all, if you all don't bother us, we won't bother you. Just let us be.

Vegans can't be ******* because they are actually very caring considerate people that do not want to take part in the horrendous, brutal meat industry. I guess the reason why we are mean sometimes..I try to be nice up to a certain extent...but the meanness comes from having to defend ourselves day in and day out. I am not rude to anyone, I don't try to push my belifefs on anyone. That is such a stereotype. That's all.

Yes. I have a sister in law who is picky about evertything. Stuck up and down right a pompass..... she does well with her vegan foods! AS she goes to a Jewish market to buy Vegan chicken!

I thought vegan meant no preservatives additives or hormones on anything grown, including chicken. and since Jewish are very particular about this and their food, they are the ones who make it available for picky stup.. ppl.

Yes too smug for thier own good. Humans are omnivores, meaning we should eat flora and fauna in order to be healthy. I've yet to see a vegan that can do ten pushups.

Some are because they can't believe other people won't look at the way animals are being treated. Be honest, did you go to the Peta website and look at the pictures? Shouldn't you know?

Anyone who is passionate about what they do will meet your descriptions, not only vegans.

Why you are calling them names, I have no idea, and I do not agree with that description.

No, I am not a vegan.
