I guess it would be a matter of opinion. While a Coke float tastes ver good, I like A&W. Barq's does not have the same bold tast that A&W has. I would try both drinks seperate and with ice cream. besides i've never seen a Barq's restaurant, unlike A&W, I believe they still have restaurants everywhere, they probably sell more floads than anyone. Well, good uck.

Barq's is the best - or either IBC, which still comes in glass bottles. The Barq Floats (Barqs w/ vanilla, comes in glass bottles) are really good, if you can find them. Barq's also makes a Root Beer Float Push Up that is really good. Sonic uses Barq's for their floats.

I grew up with A&W. It came in glass bottles. I lived on a farm and we would make home-made ice cream in the winter time with real cream and such. After making the ice cream on the back-porch we'd bring it in, scoop it out, ice crystals and all, sloooooooowly pour the A&W over it, let is fizz for a while, then pour more.

Talk about addiction! Just couldn't get enough!
The A&W that comes in the cans now just isn't the same. But hey, what is! I still like A&W when I can get it in the glass bottles.

A&W is the classic rootbeer & Barq's is the newcomer, even though it's been around awhile. Both make great floats.

Root beer is root beer. Go with whichever you like the best.

barq's has a stronger root beer taste so it doesn't get watered down when you add them together. Also barq's is good by it's self.

I prefer the sifficult to find, but really good Schprecher (spelling??) from Milwaukee. But of the two, I'd go for Barq's.

There's a really good shop in LA that has all kinds of sodas from around the country. They deliver too:
