My mother's husband has had an ear infection for a couple weeks, and it is so gross, it is oozing constantly. He saw a doctor who told him his eardrum is punctured and infected. He gave him anti biotics. But, now he stopped taking them because he thinks the antibiotics are causing half of his face to be paralized. I told him that he needs to keep taking the antibiotics and maybe see a specialist. I have never heard of anti-b's causeing someone to look like they had a stroke. I told him that maybe the infection was swollen and pressing on a nerve and causeing this. Any doctors or nurses out there seen this before. It's very scarey to see him like that.

I dont think it is the antibiotics that are causing his facial paralysis. The facial nerve runs very close to the inner ear, so if there is inflammation in that area, especially if his tympanic membrane is ruptured, he probably got an infection, most likely viral which is causing facial nerve paralysis. This is also sometimes called Bell's Palsy and can take a while to heal but most cases heal without any neurologic damage. I would talk to his doctor about it but it sounds like Bell's Palsy to me.
I hope this answered your question and alleviated some of your concerns.

the first thought that came to my mind was: warm sweet oil applied directly into the ear canal

my second thought: get some goldenseal, have him take some internally, pay close attention the instructions on the label if you are buying a bottle, if buying otherwise: inquire as to the dose.

take some of the goldenseal and dilute it with water and fill up the ear having him lay on the opposite side with warm compresses on the affected ear and the affected side of his face

do all this while waiting to get into the neurosurgeon, rest assured when you get to the specialist and he administers his particular brand of medicine and He is feeling better and his ear is healed, the application of the goldenseal will be forgotten and all credit will go to the MD

such is life

Get to a NEUROSURGEON.
I'm sorry, but this doesn't sound right. Please make sure there isn't a tumor involved with this.
