The best temperature to store fruits and vegetables is different for each type and even for each variety. The best temperature to store banana's is 13-14.5 degrees C (56 - 58F). Below 13 C, they will get freezer burn although it mainly makes the skin go dark, the banana itself will be OK. Your fridge is probably around 5C (41 F) or maybe lower. Bananas hate being too cold, but your grapes like it cool.

In France, it is right the opposite. Bananas ripen far more quickly in the fruit bowl than in the fridge.
Either it depends on the weather or humidity level of the air or because the bananas in Singapore are so afraid to get fined, to be put into jail or whipped because they know that the City-State does not allow "dirty" behaviour.
It's meant to be a joke.

To preserve banans in the fridge you have to take into consideration that a fridge dries thing out, to prevent this
Wrap your bananas in a damp tea towel before placing them in the fridge, they will then last for much longer than out on the fruit bowl.
But make sure you keep the tea towel damp or you will be back to square one

Bananas produce ethylene gas which is what makes them ripen quicker, so maybe its cos the gas is trapped near them.
You shouldnt keep bananas in the fridge anyway. or near other fruit as they gas will make th other fruit ripen and go off quicker too.

Have you noticed that in the fridge, while the nana skins go brown, the nana itself is perfectly preserved for longer than it would be in a fruit bowl?

Bananas do not like the cold,
keep them at room temp and away from other fruit as they cause other fruit to ripen quicker
