They love to take kids on field trips to see how
candles, pastry, sweets, etc...are made...
How come they don't take their kids to
see how meat is REALLY made?

Are they scared of REALITY?

I don't think the kids should go but what a fun day out for adults. They could charge admittance and meat eaters would have such a great day. They could take a picnic and drink wine while watching the slaughter. I think you are onto something there.

I used to work for Tyson Transportation based out of a Tyson Fresh Meat beef plant in Nebraska back in 2004 after college. The reason they don't let people in for tours is mostly for sanitation. There is also the safety factor with knifes and hooks everywhere. Probably the main reason is for people not to see the low quality work force of Hispanics, Eastern Africans, ect. who start making noises when we went through on the company tour.

Plus beef plants aren't too gross, they just slice and dice the carcass until its make into steaks and hamburger. Something in a further processing plant would be gross to see what they put into prepackaged stuff.

LOL Great question...I think the children might be a bit ...oh, "changed" after that. Yes, the reality is that they are terrified and no, I don't want my children on that tour. I'm a vegetarian and I will educate them on the subject just fine....they don't need to see it first hand. I think that if I had seen that as a child I would be in an institution....not a good idea, but it is a funny kind of question.

I would say because kids are too young too understand all that is happening at the slaughterhouse. Let's face, it is more fun for kids to see how candy is made than how a cow is slaughtered before we turn it into food. Just common sense, and being sensitive to children.

hmmm, interesting question. Maybe it is the slaughterhouse's fault, they don;t want to accidentally let a kid run across an electric floor or bash their head in.

Now, a hot dog factory, woo boy, that would be scary. or pet food. Nasty.

There was a Simpson episode about that, it was great, all the kids came out crying or just staring vacantly.

The reality is that you can't come to grips with the fact that a bunch of others don't have the same opinion as yours.
Lots of people like a steak. They just don't need to know the butcher's name.

The same reason people don't go on field trips to hospitals or sewage treatment plants or paper mills. They are neccessary, but unpleasant to visit.

Your not allowed to try to influence their opinions in that way, to try to spread your political opinions in impressionable children it is morally wrong.

I think you'll agree trips to sweet shops do not do this, also they have the added bonus of not scarring these children, who are probably thus far unnaquainted with death, for life.
