No you can not get it by casual contact.
There are 2 main types of the herpes virus (8 in total). Herpes simplex virus 1 is typically cold sores, while herpes simplex virus 2 is typically genital herpes.
If they have cold sores, you should avoid sharing drinks after them, a cigarette, using chap stick, lipstick, and kissing them. Those are mainly how cold sores are spread. Also, it's not so much the liquid in their drink that you should be careful about, it's where their lips were. Cold sores appear on the lips and mouth area and can be spread even if he is showing no signs or symptoms of the virus (like blisters). It's called "shedding" when a person has the virus but is not showing any visible signs. They can pass the virus to another person when they are "shedding".
Herpes simplex virus 2 or genital herpes is spread by sex, oral sex, and rubbing genital areas together. So unless you are doing any of those things with them you have no reason to worry about getting it. Also, genital herpes is NOT spread by using a toilet seat or shower or even towels or blankets with someone who has the virus. The ONLY thing you can get from a toilet seat is pubic lice (crabs) and even this is REALLY rare.
I have had genital herpes for 5 years now and I shared a bathroom with my brothers for those 5 years. They NEVER got herpes from me, even after using the toilet after me and the shower. You really don't need to take any special precautions around your friend. Good luck!

I got identified with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 3 years ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a mindless one-night stand. I know a lot of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with someone who has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/YfvZF everything improved.
Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This method provided the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

If you have genital herpes infection, you can easily pass or transmit the virus to an uninfected partner during sex.
Most people get genital herpes by having sex with someone who is shedding the herpes virus either during an outbreak or during a period with no symptoms. People who do not know they have herpes play an important role in transmission.
You can transmit herpes through close contact other than sexual intercourse, through oral sex or close skin-to-skin contact, for example.
The virus is spread rarely, if at all, by objects such as a toilet seat or hot tub.
but it is a small possible chance...

Almost everyone has some sort of herpes in there bodies, anyone who has had chicken pox has herpes, which can come back as shingles at anytime in your life. There is genital herpes, and then there is cold sores. What kind of herpes are you referring to?

sure, there is not any. Herpes is led to via an epidemic. certainly, there is little treatment for viruses in recent times. the only factor which you would be able to frequently do with regards to a viral an infection is improve the immune gadget and desire it fights it off. no longer with Herpes, the immune gadget won't have the ability to win against it. for this reason you in straightforward terms get to handle the indicators. as quickly as you're contaminated, it continues to be with you for all times. So don't get contaminated. very own adventure. I certainly have had genital herpes for over 5 years. the #a million Herpes treatment application?

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

No,it's a sexually transmitted disease, unless it's something like Herpes simplex, like a cold sore, which you can get if you kiss them on the place where the sore is,or other contact. Not from a handshake, last check

well seeing what I have in the hospitals....yes and no. If someone touches their sorea and does not wash their hands and you touch them right away.....yes. Most times it is not the casual contacts that get you...it's the intimate ones. Even if there are no signs of Herpes during sex...you can still get it.... handshaking good... sex bad!!
