There is a really good test now for HIV. You can have your cheek and gum swabbed and they will test it right away. The test takes 20 minutes. It is very easy, very quick and very reliable. It is used in many clinics and hospitals. You can look up clinics in the phone book and ask if they offer this test anonymously. The name of the test is OraQuick Advance. You can go and get the results the same day and not have to wait and worry about the test. And it does not hurt. PLEASE do not donate blood to find out if you are HIV+. It takes them days to do the test and you would not want to accidentally pass on HIV to someone else would you???

Sure you need to ask for the test..May I suggest though having it done anonymously so that it is not listed on your insurance papers..this may throw up a red flag and at some point be denied health insurance..look in the phone book for HIV testing and you can get the test and just be listed as a code or number and not your name..

Yes your blood can get tested for HIV antibodies, however in most states an HIV test cannot be preformed with out and informed consent or court ordered. If you want to get tested for HIV contacted you local health department, as test can be performed with results given in 20 min. (ORAQUICK rapid HIV test)

Yes. But you must request it and be sure the office has a way to process the sample. There are usually free clinics that deal with this issue. Call your local health department for specific places to go. Donating blood will screen for HIV but when they ask you if that is why you are donating blood answer "No" I guess they may feel it may encourage unwanted donors? Who knows. Good luck and I hope you are negative.Whatever the results are, do your best to not spread this virus. my thoughts are with you.

If you are getting a physical, the doctor must seek your permission to test for HIV. This is a federal law.
However, if you are donating blood, they test it. They have you read a paper about it and sign that you understand what you've read--that your blood will be tested for HIV.

yes. Everytime you donate blood; it is tested. You should go to your primary physician and request an HIV test if you are very worried.
