also, i read that 90% of americans w/ herpes don't even know their effected. kinda scary info. Any of this stuff true?

I think most people with herpes know they are infected, mainly because with herpes most people develop large blister like sores either on their mouth and lips (cold sores) or in their genital area (genital herpes). I don't believe that about 90% don't know.

I know that HPV (Human papillomavirus) affects about 75-80% of the world and only about 20some% know about it. I can believe this one because there really are no sings or symptoms of the virus. It can take months and even years to show signs of it, like genital warts. I have had HPV for 5 years and only until about 6 months ago did I get genital warts, other than that there really is no sign I have it.

And back to your original question...I don't believe that 82% of women would not tell their partner. I have told every guy before I sleep with them that I have genital herpes. I think they have the right to know. 82% just seems like too high of a number to me.

Well, 1/4 people are infected with herpes! And most people got it when their partner had no signs or symptoms! STD's are very common. Now more than ever. People don't tell other people they are infected to risk embarassment or don't care and have sex anyway. You should always use a condom to prevent risk of spreading, or getting an infection FOR LIFE! Remember, MOST STD's, you will have for life! Is it really worth the 20 min of sex? not really.

I would tell my boyfriend immediately if I found that I had an STD so he could get tested and we could both me treated for it and all that jazz. Also, some people don't experience symptoms from STDs so it's very possible to have something and not know. That's why if you're doing it with someone you should get tested regularly.
