Possibly from certain apes.
Just don't share dirty needles or have sex with apes!

I think apes can get HIV, but I don't know if it is the same form as humans can get. But according to the most common theory HIV spread from apes to humans because some African tribes hunt and eat apes (or at least did so, I don't know if they still do that now) and some of these were infected with HIV.
There is also a form of HVI cats can have, but this form is absolutely not dangerous for humans - but deadly for cats.

No, HIV stands for HUMAN immunodeficiency virus, not Canine. HIV was traced back to Simian Immunodeficiency Virus, but they are not the same thing. Check out www.thebody.com, or ask your Doctor instead of strangers on the Internet. Don't feel silly, you would never know anything unless you asked!

HIV=Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
You see the name,it says 'Human' ,which means it is transmitted only between humans.
Other animals too have such diseases but it is not the same as HIV which infects humans and we cannot get it from them just like they cannot get it from us.
So u getting infected with HIV from ur dog is IMPOSSIBLE.

I seem to recall that they traced the genesis of HIV back to human and monkey interaction.
Don't know if that helps or not.
