I dont think fish are meat. So why are Catholics like me allowed to eat it on Fridays during lent? If you think about it's just meat from the sea!
I dont even like any type of meat! Sea or not!!!
That is why i am a vegetarian!!!

Fish are living animals with souls like us. They are definitely meat and those who eat it aren't vegetarians.
Catholics are meat eaters and not vegetarians.
You are right. Many religions say it's ok to eat animals to suit themselves.

If it is bleeds, can express fear or any kind of thought,I think it's meat.I'm not a vegetarian yet.I'm starting with phasing out mammels and going from there. But fish are meat.I wouldn't eat any fish I grew myself. However, some plants have been known to express fear.I read it in a newspaper article.Someone hooked up electrodes to a plant, and burned a leaf. The reading went haywire. The person then just thought about burning a leaf, and the reading went haywire again.I kid you not,it was in a local paper by a Christian writer,no less. That made me feel really guilty for eating carrots for a while. If that really happened, can you imagine what an animal in a slaughterhouse must feel?Ok,I think I will step it up a bit.No chicken for me,tomorrow!

good for you & you're right. meat from a cow or fish, chicken, walnut, squash, et cetera, is still meat. the practice of fish over beef or pork/chicken for catholics probably goes back to the very early days of the christians. most were fishermen & women, lived by & off the sea. not only could you not justify wasting such sea bounty but it was the early spin doctors at work. yum! fish good and eat more. red & white meat bad , yuck! what? during lent in the old days, 40 years ago or more, lent was 40 days & nights of meatless meals as we know it. it all changed around the late 1960s, so be of good cheer. there's always poached eggs.

It IS meat... it's the meat of the fish, just as with any other sort of animal. I'd guess that they let you eat fish mostly because it's good for you and should have some at least once in a while... a lot of veggie ppl eat fish to get certain nutrients and vities found in 'em. It's not easy to be sure you're getting all you need on a 'pure' veggie diet... I hope you have some really good guidance.
Maybe it had to do with that one guy that followed J.C. around with the other 11... Peter or Paul? Wasn't one of them a fisherman? It could have been to be sure he had a goo market for his fish-- at least once a year.

It is meat. The reason for Catholics to differ between other meat and fish is that fish was eaten by Jesus in the Bible.

Fish has red blood just like any other animal - fish is MEAT. If you eat fish, you are not a real vegetarian.

Anything that classifies as an animal, land or sea, has meat. If it has a muscle, it has meat. That is what the meat it. I am always in awe by people who are vegans. I tried it but I was such a bitchy person, I had to go back. I know its more healthy as long as you get protein through soy and legumes, but...I just couldn't do it. SO more power to ya!

If its meat i dont eat it. Are you vegan or vegetarian? Because some vegetarians allow them selves to eat dairy and/or fish. No animal at all is vegan (and the best way to go!)

First you said you don't think fish are meat, then you said it's meat from the sea.
Make up your mind: Is fish meat or not?
To eats his own, I say.
