Some of these people on here are just plain idiots. STDs don't leave brown stuff in panties. What it sounds like is old blood that is menstrual blood left over from the month before that is still in the uterus. Its not unusual. Often times it means a woman's progesterone level is a little off.

You didn't say your friend's age but if she has not already been having her period then it means she is now! A girl's first few periods are often dark brown until their hormone levels straighten themselves out. If you're friend is getting any sort of discomfort down there such as itching, burning, smelly discharge or pain or if she is really worried just tell her to go to a doctor. Meanwhile get some pantiliners (unscented kind); that's what they're made for.

Brown stuff? Yes, she should worry. A female's skidmarks should be no darker than yellow when the do occur. Now guys, that's different. They always have skids and they're sometimes brown.

It might be "old" blood before her period. I say "old" because by the time she sees it it has traveled some distance from her uteus and the blood is no longer red. I used to get it before my period.

If it is between periods that could be a problem. I had that too and I had an erosion of my cervix.

Either way she could see a gynocologist who could check her out to be sure she wasn't having abnormal bleeding of her cervix or vaginal wall.

It sounds like she has some concerns about her health.
She should go to her doctor and ask questions. Why should she continue wondering when she could find out what's up even if it's just normal. Otherwise she may be wondering for the rest of her life.
God Bless You, ;-)

That sounds like she is spotting. Does it happen right before or after her period? After sex? All the time? Is she on the pill or other hormonal birth contol?

You didn't provide a lot of info. Have her talk to a doctor to rule out things like cysts.

I'm not trying to be mean but why should she be asking you about what you get in your panties what you get in your draws is private and she shouldn't be asking.

Some women without any type of diseases have a brownish discharge even when it is not associated with their periods. Also, some have such a heavy discharge that they need pantiliners.

No. That happens to most females atleast once or twice, in their lifetime.

I used to work for an OBGYN. The DOCTORS don't even know what causes it but they DO know this.

It's harmless and means nothing.

It has happened to me once.

Not if it is just before or after manstrating. If there is a bad odor associated with it or any pain she should see a doctor
