The stage before diabetes is called pre-diabetes. Type II diabetes is diagnosed when the fasting blood sugar is over 126mg/dL. It is good that you are scared. That means you are taking this seriously! See your doctor and enroll in diabetes self-management classes. Meanwhile, the American Diabetes Association has an awesome website.

Blood sugar in the 133 range isn't Borderline Diabetes, it is Diabetes. You need to go in and have the complete fasting tests done. 54 is a good age to get it. If you would have gotten it younger your body would be seeing lots of irregularities by now. The tingling could be lots of other things. The only way to know for sure is to be seen by a Dr. that has good followup care. Good luck

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.

You need to cut down on alcohol for it has high sugar content. The tingling sensation can be an indicator of Diabetes or Heart problems. You need to see a doctor.

It sounds as if you have type II diabetes...don't be frightened, just get your eating and exercise straightened out immediately, take pills until your body comes around and the insulin you produce starts to work normally again. You need good resistance training and proper diet...both are indicated with the onset of type II. Good luck

There are several terms. "Pre-diabetes" is the easiest and most generic term. This can be "diagnosed" in several ways or subtypes. "Impaired glucose tolerance" occurs when you have a boarderline result of a glucose tolerance (sugar-load) test. "Impaired fasting glucose" is defined as a fasting glucose of 110-125. A fasting glucose (in the absence of current infection, medications, or other reasons for elevated blood sugar) is the best test for diabetes diagnosis. A fasting glucose above 125 is defined as type 2 diabetes.

Ask your doctor about putting you on Glucophage (metformin). It is being prescribed for metabolic syndrome (pre-diabetes). It will regulate your blood sugar and might prevent you from becoming a full-fledged diabetic.
