I love it, someone actually said " A lot of experts say no, but I (who is not an expert, and therefore really have no idea what I'm talking about and must know more than an expert) think it can. Right buddy, good critical thinking skills you have there. No, mosquitoes can not spread the virus. There is a plethora of studies showing this. The mosquito proboscis is not a hyodermic needle . Also, malaria reproducess and migrate to different parts of the mosquito. It is part of its' life cycle. Not so for HIV. Please people, do some research before you answer these questions!

NO! The rate of new cases of AIDS goes up and down every year. If it were transmitted through mosquitoes, the number of new cases reported would be about the same every year. If you'd like to know, here are some other things that ARE transmitted through mosquitoes; yellow fever, encephalitis, malaria, west nile virus, sleeping sickness, rickettsiial diseases(if I am rembering correctly) By the way, mosquitoes aren't the actual cause for any disease, it's the pathogenic organisms that they are carrying which make you sick.

No. "You won't get HIV [the virus that causes AIDS] from a mosquito bite. HIV does not live in a mosquito, and it is not transmitted through a mosquito's bite like other germs, such as the ones that cause malaria. You won't get it from bedbugs, lice, flies, or other insects, either," says the American Medical Association.

As far as anyone knows, the answer is no. The virus does not survive long enough outside of a human host to be carried by mosquitoes, (yet).

I've never heard of it but if mosquitos can spread malaria, and syringes can spread HIV, I'd say that a mosquito could therefore spread AIDS.
