Your son was probably diagnosed with herpes zoster or shingles. This is usually caused by being exposed to chicken pox. Shingles can appear anywhere on the body, usually just the sides of the body and chest, but it can appear on the face and ears too.

it could be shingles. its a type of HERPES-zoster. the rash is painful and looks like a bunch of raised dots. they say its like the 2nd stage of chicken pox. ask more about it to your dr. and try doing some research :)

yes it can spring up anywhere .. one strain is waist and below (genital herpes ) one is waist and above more commonly shows ups as just oral cold sores .
