Welcome aboard!!!!!!
Vegetarianism is the practice of not eating meat, including beef, poultry, fish, and their by-products, with or without the use of dairy products or eggs. The exclusion may also extend to products derived from animal carcasses, such as lard, tallow, gelatin, rennet and cochineal. Some who follow the diet also choose to refrain from wearing clothing that involves the death of animals, such as leather, silk, fur and many down feathers. While most vegetarians consume dairy products, veganism is a stricter form which excludes dairy, eggs, honey, and any foods that contain these or other animal products. While the term vegetarianism, in a strict sense excludes all meat and fish, some partial-vegetarian diets use the term in their names, such as Pesco/pollo vegetarianism (excludes red meat but not chicken or fish).
That's what wikipedia says, I don't eat any animal meat....and I thought I was vegeterian, now I don't know.......
If you want to become vegan:
Veganism is a philosophy and lifestyle that avoids using animals and animal products for food, clothing and other purposes. In practice, a vegan (an adherent to veganism) commits to the abstention from consumption or use of all animal products, including meat, fish, poultry, honey, eggs and dairy products, as well as articles made of fur, wool, bone, leather, feathers, pearls, mother of pearl, coral, and other materials of animal origin. Many vegans also avoid products that have been tested on animals. People who avoid eating all animal products, but who otherwise use animal by-products (for example, leather shoes) are commonly referred to as dietary vegans.
People become vegans for a variety of reasons, including ethical concerns such as animal rights and the environment, as well as more personal reasons such as health benefits[1] and spiritual or religious concerns. A Time/CNN poll published in Time Magazine on July 7, 2002, found that 4% of American adults consider themselves vegetarians, and 5% of self-described vegetarians consider themselves vegans. This suggests that 0.2% of American adults are vegans.
In 2002, the UK Food Standards Agency reported that 5% of respondants self-identified as vegetarian or vegan. Of that 5%, approximtely 10% ate white meat, nearly half ate fish and 95% ate dairy. Based on these figures, vegans are approximately 0.25% or less of the UK population

"allowed" means permitted
"aloud" means out loud, audible
Now, a vegetarian eats no flesh, so no meat, fish, chicken, turkey, or other animal. Some vegetarians eat eggs. Most eat dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt, etc.
If you want to get extremely serious about it, you won't eat anything derived from animals whatsoever....so no eggs, no dairy products. That's called vegan, and it's very difficult to achieve. Also difficult to balance your diet and get all the nutrients your body requires for good health and normal function. You should ease into this kind of lifestyle. First, eliminate all red meat (beef, pork, lamb) from your diet. Then if you want, cut out chicken, then fish. At that point, you can decide if you want to give up the dairy products...if you do, you probably need the assistance of a dietician to make sure you aren't depriving your body of vitamins, minerals and other essentials.

If you're wanting to become vegetarian, it's probably easiest to cut out red meat first, then the poultry and fish, then if you want to cut out all animal products, take out the milk and eggs.
You can eat so much! Everything that ever was grown in the ground is edible. Nuts, fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, seeds, tofu, peanuts, soy, gluten (also called seitan). Going out to eat is not out of the question either. almost every restaurant has something veggie or something that could be made veggie. You don't have to opt for a salad. There are even entire vegetarian restaurants. Indian and other oriental restaurants are especially good at preparing vegetarian meals.
There are entire cookbooks for the teen vegetarian whose family still eats meat. Check it out!

i have been a vegetarian since i was 8 years old.
there are many (i think around 6) types of vegetarians. you are a type of vegetarian depending on what you eat and dont eat.
i eat cheese, milk, butter, eggs (dairy products), nuts and FISH. but no meat.
other vegetarians may eat dairy products and no meat. or dairy and only white meat.
there are many different things to eat.
it's GREAT that you want to become a vegetarian, but before you "take the plunge", decide that you think is right to eat and what you shouldnt eat.
it all depends on how you feel about different animals and what your actual reason for becoming a vegetarian is.
well, i hope this helps.
have a fun and healthy vegetarian life!

I really suggest getting a book or visiting some vegetarian websites. You have to determine what you want to eat. Some vegetarians eat dairy and eggs and some dont. You will want to learn how to read labels and what ingredients mean. For example, gelatin is something you will want to avoid. It's found in many items like SOME margarines, yogurts, candy etc.
You will also want to research cheese and avoid many because they contain animal rennet. (Many of Cabot cheeses are animal rennet free)
Despite what some people write here, vegetarians do not eat fish.

Some vegetarians will eat fish, some will eat only "white" meat like chicken. Some will not have ANY amilan products like honey , milk and eggs. -- Thats up to you. My wife and I regulary go out to eat Chinese, Italian , Some mexican and of course Subway..... Good luck -- besure to have b-12 suppliments

easy enough, a vegetarian cannot eat meat.....
no seriously, it depends on how strict of a veggie you are. Some people won't eat meat or meat products such as eggs and cheese. However, you still need to be sure you get the vitamins and minerals you need.....might need to check into a a multi vitamin

well it depends on what type of vegetarain you want to become.
maybe u want to start of by being a semi-vegetrain which is when an indivual consumes no meat in the diet, but consumes eggs, diary and fish.
then there are ovo vegetarains who include eggs in their diet
lacto vegetarinas who include diary in their diet
ovo-lacto vegetarains who inlcude eggs and diary in their diet
and then the vegans who totally exempt all animal products from their diets.
