Most people don't know they have it because there really are no signs or symptoms of the virus! That is why is is spread so easily from person to person. I have read that 75-80% of the world has HPV and only about 20some% know they have it!

Also, there is NO test for men, so it's impossible for them to know they have it, unless they develop genital warts from it, but that can take months and even years to develop! So men can pass the virus for years not realizing it until they develop genital warts. I have had HPV for over 5 years now and I developed genital warts from it about 6 months ago. It took 4 and 1/2 years for me to develop them.

well, i think popular might be the wrong term here. but it is rampant in today's youth. probably because most youth are careless with their sexuality and do not practice safe sex. that and HPV is a very contagious virus.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted infection and the most common one contracted today by sexually active young people. Also, there are more than 80 strains. You are also at increased risk if you have multiple sexual partners or if your partner has had multiple partners. So there ya go!
