Genital herpes is an infection of the genitals, buttocks, or anal area caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types of HSV.
HSV type 1 most commonly infects the mouth and lips, causing sores known as fever blisters or cold sores. It is also an important cause of sores to the genitals.
HSV type 2 is the usual cause of genital herpes, but it also can infect the mouth.
Symptoms of herpes are called outbreaks. The first outbreak appears within 2 weeks after you become infected and can last for several weeks. These symptoms might include tingling or sores near the area where the virus has entered the body, such as on the genital or rectal area, on buttocks or thighs, or occasionally on other parts of the body where the virus has entered through broken skin. They also can occur inside the vagina and on the cervix in women, or in the urinary passage of women and men. Small red bumps appear first, develop into small blisters, and then become itchy, painful sores that might develop a crust and will heal without leaving a scar.

Sometimes, there is a crack or raw area or some redness without pain, itching, or tingling.

Other symptoms that may accompany the first (and less often future) outbreak of genital herpes are fever, headache, muscle aches, painful or difficult urination, vaginal discharge, and swollen glands in the groin area.

Often, though, people don’t recognize their first or subsequent outbreaks. People who have mild or no symptoms at all may not think they are infected with herpes. They can still transmit the virus to others, however.

Recurrence of herpes outbreaks

In most people, the virus can become active and cause outbreaks several times a year. This is called a recurrence, and infected people can have symptoms. HSV remains in certain nerve cells of your body for life. When the virus is triggered to be active, it travels along the nerves to your skin. There, it makes more virus and sometimes new sores near the site of the first outbreak.

Recurrences are generally much milder than the first outbreak of genital herpes. HSV-2 genital infection is more likely to result in recurrences than HSV-1 genital infection. Recurrences become less common over time.

Symptoms from recurrences might include itching, tingling, vaginal discharge, and a burning feeling or pain in the genital or anal area. Sores may be present during a recurrence, but sometimes they are small and easily overlooked.

Sometimes, the virus can become active but not cause any visible sores or any symptoms. During these times, small amounts of the virus may be shed at or near places of the first infection, in fluids from the mouth, penis, or vagina, or from barely noticeable sores. This is called asymptomatic (without symptoms) shedding. Even though you are not aware of the shedding, you can infect a sexual partner during this time. Asymptomatic shedding is an important factor in the spread of herpes.

Genital herpes symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. Most people never have any symptoms or ones that are so mild they may not recognize them, although some people develop painful and bothersome symptoms.

The primary outbreak of genital herpes tends to last longer and be more severe than subsequent (recurrent) outbreaks. Symptoms of a primary outbreak may include:

* Flulike symptoms, such as fever, headache, and muscle aches. These symptoms usually get better within a week.
* Tingling, burning, itching, and redness at the site where an outbreak is about to occur (prodrome).
* Painful, itchy blisters on the penis, on the vulva, or inside the vagina. Blisters may also appear on the anus, buttocks, thighs, or scrotum, either alone or in clusters. They may be barely noticeable or as large as a coin.
* Blisters that break and become shallow, painful, oozing sores.
* Swollen and tender lymph nodes in the groin.
* Painful urination.
* Abnormal vaginal or urethral discharge.

Occasionally a person will experience symptoms months or even years after being infected, making it very difficult to identify the sex partner who was the source of the infection.

The herpes virus "lives" in the nerves under the skin, and the first sign of an infection is often stinging or burning of the skin. This is followed by the development of small blisters on reddened skin, often in a line. The outbreak is quite painful, and in 4-5 days, the little blisters will break and ulcerate, eventually crusting over.
The severity of the symptoms depend on where on the body the outbreak happens. With a common "cold sore", it may cause cracking and breaking of the skin and lining of the mouth. Genital herpes can cause painful urination in women, and can be very painful in men. Herpes outbreaks will always recur in the same place, since the virus never completely goes away, it just goes dormant until the next outbreak.

Most people with herpes never get any symptoms at all, and aren't aware that they have it - even though they can go on to infect others. Oral-to-genital, and genital-to-oral infection is less likely that oral-to-oral or genital-to-genital, but it still happens - most often when the person is having an outbreak. Honestly? If he didn't have an outbreak? I wouldn't worry about it. But when you go for your next annual appointment, if its more than 12 weeks away, I would ask for a blood test, just to be sure. Good luck.

I tested positive for herpes type 2 approximately 5 years ago, when I was in college and had a spupid one-night affair. I am sure many of girls will say this but believe me I never did that sort of thing. I just made mistake that one time and, suddenly, it seemed like I was going to have to live with the problem for the rest of my life. The worst part was thinking I could never meet guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a person who has sores around her you-know-what? But after a good friend showed me this video https://tr.im/E9jTz everything has changed. Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than 2 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met my soulmate and I'm so blessed to say that just last week, in fornt of everyone in a restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This program offered me the chance to be happy again, and to experience true love.

as you know your herpes outbreak could happen if you experience a great deal of depression and stress, one of the first signs is a tingly feeling that you may experience in your vagina,as well as a light descharge after that you may notice a white pimple that will eventually bust and cause you pain when you urinate, try to walk and sit down and will probaly last for about a week or two.

You usually wont know you have it till your first outbreak. I have also heard that you may have Flu like symptoms, like high fever. Other than that I have never heard of any other symptoms. I'm sure there are others though
