Herpes is a viral disease caused by the herpes simplex virus. There are 8 main types, each causing different diseases, the most commonly and classically referred to as 'herpes' being Type1 causing vesicles and boils around the mouth and Type2 causing genital infections and STDs.
It is diagnosed based on the presentation of symptoms and clinical features - any doctor can identify the lesions easily by its very classic vesicles.
The other method for diagnosis which is hardly used (as diagnosis is primarily by examination) is Serology - a blood test where the lab detects your body's immune response to the virus and accordingly identifies the herpes virus by means of an antigen-antibody reaction.
There is no permanent cure - as the herpes virus remains latent in the nerves and can always 'reactivate' later if you are immunocompromised at any time.(ie - your immune system becomes weak, like after an infection, etc). So, even after you think you're ok because you don't see any of the vesicles and other manifestations, the virus still keeps hiding in your nerve endings. The good news, however, is that most people escape without it ever reactivating and, even better, today there are antiviral drugs (like acyclovir) to prevent severe forms of the disease and to resolve the symptoms.
As for the other tests you mentioned:
Urine Dispstick: detects levels of sugar, protein, etc in your urine - not viruses!!
GC and Chlamydia DNA Probe: For diagnosis of gonorrhea and chlamydia STDs
Urinalisys W Ref to Microscopy and Culture: Detects bacterial infections

CIPRO 500 MG and Doxycycline Hyclate: are antibiotics - that means they treat BACTERIAL infections and are absolutely no use against viruses. Overuse of antibiotics leads to resistance, which means if you overuse them for the wrong things they later wont be able to protect you from bacterial infections, so please use them appropriately ONLY WHEN THEY ARE ACTALLY NEEDED and only on prescritpion by your doc in the correct doses!!

There are two "tests" for herpes. The doctor usually will just do a physical exam. No blood is taken for this test.

* A woman will have a gynecological exam. A pap smear may be included, depending on the woman's medical history.
* A man will have a genital exam to check for infection.

Your health professional may be able to diagnose genital herpes from your medical history and physical exam, especially if the herpes sores are typical in appearance. However, if this is your first outbreak of suspected genital herpes, further testing may be done to confirm the diagnosis.

You can also get a blood test done. These can be really inaccurate though, providing a negative result when in fact you do have the virus.

I was personally never given a blood test. My doctor took one look at the sores and knew it was genital herpes.

Also, there is no medication you can take to get rid of the virus. Viruses have no cure. You can only suppress the virus and make the symptoms go away with medication. Cipro is NOT used to treat herpes. Cipro is used to treat bacterial infections like chlamydia and gonorrhea, NOT herpes. Herpes is a virus not a bacterial infection. Herpes is treated with Acyclovir (Zovirax), acyclovir (Famvir), and valacyclovir (Valtrex). There is even a topical form of acyclovir (Zovirax ointment), but it offers little benefit in the treatment of genital herpes and is not recommended.

I got clinically diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about five years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I realize loads of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/6CTQh everything improved.

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This system gave me back the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others by sharing this story.

Well, you cannot use test to detect herpes, you can feel it and then see it. Unfortunatelly, once you get it there is no way to get rid of it ever. It comes and goes till you die. Sorry about that. Be careful not to give it to anyone because they won't like you much.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

You have to take a blood test called IgG. It detects herpes when you don't have visible symptoms.

Herpes is a virus, there is not cure. Acyclovir and Zoverax are substances that have some effect on viruses, but not totally effective. Diagnosis is made thru gross observation (i.e., expression of lesions.) Antibiotics you mentions are just that, antibiotics, bacteria, not viruses..... So they are worthless, Those tests mentions do not test for viruses...... sorry

Your doctor can order blood tests, however all it will tell you is if you have or if you haven't been exposed to the virus. Your best bet is to see your doctor and talk to him / her about it. Good luck.
