Need more info here. They are not brown? This is confusing. Take a better look at the spot - how many? where are they? what size are they? are the flat or not? do the ooz or not? do they itch? What color? do they have a fever?

could just be sun spots ~ if they are located in an area this exposed to the sun alot ~ otherwise, I'd have a doctor check them

More info needed. if they are in skin color, how can you define their borders. to be sure that they are not caused by fungi your friend needs to see a doctor.
