I lived in Trinidad for a while, and a popular dish was Calaloo with land crabs. I think it contained a green leafy vegetable called Dasheen? and Okra, but I have no idea how to make it.
A recipe would be great, as would any suitable substitutes for the Dasheen as I have never seen it on sale in the UK - or haven't recognised it in ethnic greengrocery shops

TRINIDAD CALALOO

Ingredients

2 pkgs dasheen leaves
1 hot pepper (whole)
1 spring fresh thyme
1-19 oz can coconut milk
1 cup water
1 onion finely chopped
1 tsp garlic finely chopped
2 green onions chopped
4 okra chopped into pieces
10 oz crab meat (fresh, canned or frozen)
salt & pepper to taste

Directions
Strip the leaves, discarding the veins. Coarsely chop the leaves.
Peel and coarsely chop the stalks.
Place all ingredients (except crab) in a large pot. Cover and cook until soft and mushy.
Remove whole hot pepper, without breaking stalk and discard.
Cool to room temperature. Puree the ingredients in a blender.
Place pureed Calaloo back in pot. If too thick add more coconut milk and thin to desired consistency.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
If you are using crab, add it at this stage and cook for 10 minutes.
Serve over boiled rice.

Calaloo is a vegetable itself. You basically boil it down in pan of water, add some pigs tail (that is the traditional trinny way), okra etc etc. Ive never made it myself tbh.
You can get calaloo in cans, but its much better to get the fresh if you can.
