I'd imagine you be more likely to catch one in a public bathroom or a swimming pool. Someone did a study and found a fast food restaurant bathroom was cleaner than the ice in the ice machine. Who knows what you can get and from where. Life is risks. Just be smart and stay aware.

I can see that no one here has really answered your question. There is no way to absolutely make sure that someone does not have an STD, even if they have been tested. For instance, it takes up to 6 months for antibodies to HIV to develop so negative HIV test in the first six months doesn't mean anything. This person could be spreading HIV around because he does not know he is infected with the virus. Furthermore, we can't test for every STD. Genital warts is caused by certain types of HPV (yes, the same virus that causes cervical cancer) which can be silently carried by the guy. In summary, STD don't appear out of nowhere or from people just having sex. In addition, every test that is done to test for STD's will miss some cases, otherwise the test would have a high false positive rate. So being negative for STD's only means that there's a good PROBABILITY that your are STD free, but in medicine, there is no test that is 100% accurate. This is how people spread STD's when they think they are STD free.

If the two people do not carry any diseases then they cannot spread diseases they don't have. The virus must exist in order to be spread. Logical?
Anyway... the only problem is truly knowing when a person is clean. People can have a virus and still test negative for it for a variety of reasons, but chances are, after knowing a person for a good long while, and seeing their STD tests consistently come back clean, you can assume that if they are not sleeping around that they are safe.
And you cannot get an STD from a STD free man having anal sex with a woman and then having vaginal intercourse. The woman can get an infection from the bacteria in her rectum climbing her urinary tract.

In spite of what the God fearing individual told you “GOD HATES” what is wrong with that statement first of all. If you and your partner have both been tested not once but twice due to the window periods, and define your relationship as monogamist. Then you either have it or you don’t. Do not worry STD/STI’s do not come out of the heavens to get you , like Mary was with Jesus, nor can you get it from a toilet seat . Contact your local health department to receive an educated and informed answer to your questions, not some back woods inbreed responses. Ok let me add this in about the person who has worked in the field who brought up false positive in any STD/STI test prefomed if the plimanary tests shows reactive a secondry tests is ran to confirm the first test "CONFIRMATORY" MORE imput
OH PLEASE
For instance, it takes up to 6 months for antibodies to HIV to develop so negative HIV test in the first six months doesn't mean anything. THE CDC STANDARDS ARE 28 DAYS TO 90 DAYS TO SHOW DETECTABLE ANTIBODIES please contact your local health department

I believe that it is possible. If a person has anal sex, and then turns right around and has vaginal sex, than a woman would get an STD.

Yes. Read about HPV and herpes. You can have it and never know it- almost impossible to test for.
You can also test negatively for HIV. Retest in 6 months.

You can get genital herpes from oral sex. Most people have herpes simplex virus type 1. If you have oral sex with someone getting a cold sore they can transmit it to your genitals.

Oh hell yeah.... and you are going to get STD's whether you want them or not... because STD's come from God... and God hates it when people have sex... even if they're not gay.
