Hun, there is NOT enough space on here to list every antihypertensive medication, side effects, generics, etc.
get on WEB MD.
If you can find someone with a Physician's desk reference (PDR) you can look them up yourself and find ALL THE INFORMATION, including the chemical compositon of the meds.
Side effects of course would be the opposite of what the med is taken for, so low blood pressure would be a side effect.
also, your pharmacist wil print you the info sheet with your meds that your MD orders for you.
Lay OFF THE SALT AND PORK ! Diet drinks, believe it or not are loaded with sodium, as are most canned foods. Do NOT cook with salt and use very liberally!

Once you get it under control with the pills do try to attack the causes and not just the symptoms. Easier said than done but at least think about it, here:
