Yes- it is perfectly edible. I would serve it with the rind on and those who don't like it can remove it. Another hint: You can slice brie fairly thin with dental floss.

You don't you just eat it. Or you can just dig out of the soft center and avoid it.

Some people find the skin rather bland and don't eat it. Bries (and all commercially produced cheeses in this country) are made from pasteurized milk, which may account for the rather uninspired taste of the rind. It would be a huge mess and enormous waste of time to remove the rind from a wheel of brie.

My favorite way to deal with Brie rind is to put the brie in a container next to some bleu cheese. The bleu cheese culture will invade the rind and turn it into tasty bleu cheese-esque goodness. Then you have the best of both worlds. Creamy brie...tangy bleu. How can you go wrong?

You can carefully cut it off with a pairing knife, but most people do eat it.
