For about a year now I have been having chest pains on the left side, a dull pain in my back on the left shoulder blade, a sharp pain in the back of my left arm. This pain comes on when I am just sitting or lying down. I have been to the emergency room twice had EKG and came back negative twice, I have had a stress test and it came out negative. I will be sitting down at my desk or driving in my car and all of a sudden I feel like an electric shock in my chest. I am sick of living with this condition, I have gone to a cardiologist and two different M.D.'s. No one can find anything. Someone suggested to me it may be angina. Wouldn't one of the three doctors been able to pick up on that or at least suggest testing for it. I am 29 years old and i was not born with a heart disorder, but could I have heart disease already. If so, would they not know to look for it. They just tell me that I am too young, so why do i live with this discomfort everyday.

You are 29
Your EKG is normal
Your stress test is normal
You heart is, in all probability, normal
You have pain in the arm and in the back
You might have a neck problem
Or nerves might be trapped somewhere

Get a 64 slice CT angio, if you really want to be sure that your heart's arteries are normal
See a good internist too, not a cardioloigist anymore

It is time for you to play detective. Is there any way that you can connect a particular medication, a food or type of food, exercise, hobby or stressful situation to each of these events? Even 12-24 hours previous? Try to do a bit of research and careful experimentation to see if you can create a cause and effect to eliminate possibilities. You know yourself best. If you are still not able to come up with a possibility, and the pain continues, consider going to a DO - or maybe a doctor affiliated with a teaching hospital. Life is too short to waste being in pain.
I suggest the medication - cause I used to wake up in the middle of the night with chest pains. Strangely enuf, this did not happen when I skipped taking a popular allergy medication. Took a while to figure out - . Best of luck on your search.

have you had an echocardiogram? this gives your doctor a visual image of the heart and measures all of your heart's outputs, ejection fractions, etc...

also, have they started you on any medication, such as nitroglycerine, for when you get your chest pain? any chest pain that is unrelieved by nitro is a sign of something bad. however, pain relieved by nitro is often angina. you may want to visit another cardiologist (and try to find one that is board certified as a cardiologist and who has years of experience - the older, probably the better) and ask for an MRA as listed above, and echo, and perhaps some nitro for the meantime to try and lessen your pain.

also another thought - perhaps you are experiencing panic attacks? this can often manifest itself as chest pain which radiates to the back, shortness of breath, shock-like pains, etc...
