My gay male friend recently asked me this. He said he swallowed his boyfriends semen because a doctor told him the stomach acids make it impossible to HIV to infect you this way?
That sounds like crap to me, but I really don't know...?!

BTW, we're not sure if the guy has HIV or not. They dated for almost 6 months before they did anything.. then like 6 months later the guy told him there might be a "possibility" because he was with someone with HIV. Nice. So the guy was dropped, and the question was asked.

Thanks for all the answerrrrrsss :)

I can't believe I answering for AATG, but here we go.

What is your mouth and throat? Is there a possibility that you could get sick because that stuff was in your body? Why yes girls are getting STD's because they heard oral wasn't sex. Its part of the coolness of the Clinton legacy.

well to begin with why would you take the word of people here when you don't believe an M.D?As far as stomach acid goes,,yeah it's wicked but,,,,,what kind of foods were present in the stomach? Why do you think people get FAT?Mostly because they eat the wrong types of foods and counteract or completely breakdown the acid that they are suppose to be using for digesting.
personally how many openings do you think a person may have from mouth to stomach?Any one of them could infect say missing tooth, cavity, etc,,,,,,.
And futhermore for your information "gay" doesn't mean to swallow another guys semen,,,The definition for a person who does that is ****.

Whereas the hydrochloric acid in the stomach will kill this virus the chance of infection before it reaches the stomach is quite possible. He should get tested, and retested six months later. As for the other guy-he should teach him a lesson -if you know what I mean.

Yes, ....ANY bodily fluid from anyone with HIV is potentially infective to you.......whether it be semen, blood, sweat, tears, saliva, anything. You can also get potentially infected if there are any open wounds, whether that would be a cavity in your teeth, infected gums that bleed, a pimple, an ulcer in the gastro intestinal tract. It's not crap, it can be a matter of life or death eventually. Best of luck to you.........

you could, not from the swallowing but if he had any open sores in his mouth that could lead to becoming infected. very small risk really. if any consolation-- the risk is about he same if he ejaculated or not-- the erect penis has enough fluid to infect someone at the tip anyway-- some call this pre-***-- still the same stuff

Well, stomach acids DO ingest and break down anything that enters the body (along with the help of bile).

My personally opinion, I don't think so, but it could be possible.

The #1 way HIV/AIDS is spread in the USA is unprotected oral sex.

Here is some information on condoms, birth control, infection, safer sex, abstinence and other alternatives to intercourse, how to talk to your partner about sexual issues ... even a video on how to CORRECTLY apply a condom.

Since none of us here are doctors, I'd go with the Dr.'s opinion. But I guess as long as neither of them had any cuts on either place then they'd be ok.
