Has anyone tried the Dean Ornish diet to reverse and prevent heart disease? Has it helped? I want to begin the diet and am wondering if it really works.

It really works;I started using many of his recipes and incorporating many of his concepts when planning my diet years ago, when the book came out.Use his book as a guideline, but get information from The American Heart Society as well.

I have family members who have to eat this way;they have no choice;eating the wrong thing can lead to death(high sodium foods are forbidden for people with Congestive Heart Failure;it can and has lead to fluid retention and death).Eating a low cholesetrol, low fat,low sodium diet can sometimes be enough to treat certain diseases;otherwise, diet and medications keep people on track.
Try to aim for a diet that is 30% or less in total fat intake;225 or less milligrams in cholesterol intake, and 1500 or less in total miligram intake of sodium per day.Lots of fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains...

It might work
Can you follow it though?
No fat at all..
Combine it with Lipitor and you might see a miracle!
