I t should be between 70-120. It all depends if you was fasting or not. How slightly higher are you talking about?

Hello!

Here is a link to the American Diabetes Assoc. Here you find many answers to your questions.

Husband has diabetes and we have found that at times his numbers are slightly higher and it does not affect him. However he does keep a record daily and checks himself often.

There are many factors also that can cause blood sugar to go higher..one being stress.

A good doc will check the over all levels and see if they are down. If they are at a number that the doc is pleased with then there is no fear, but still keep taking your readings.

Per the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists:

Fasting/before meals it should be 110 or less mg/dl
2 hours after meals it should be 140 or less mg/dl
This means you have excellent control. I recommend this for all my patients. This yields less complications.

Per the American Diabetes Association:

Fasting/before meals it should be 90-130 mg/dl
2 hours after meal is should be under 180 mg/dl

The best thing to do is ask your doctor what parameters and goals he/she has set for you. Hope this helps.
