Ok, the United States has many types of fast food: Burgers, Pizza(Italian), Tacos/Burritos(Spanish/Mexican), Chinese, Japanese(yes you can get fast Japanese food)... but I have yet to find a fast food restaurant that serves French cuisine. No, French "Freedom" Fries don't count.

The term "fast food" refers to the time it takes between ordering and recieve the prepared and ready to eat food. Not the length of time it takes to eat the food itself, since I can eat anything fast if I want to, but have little control over the time it takes for me to get it.

There used to be La Madeleine in Chicago. It was great food, but they never quite figured out what they wanted to be...fast food or just quick food. I mean that honestly. They made their menu too complicated and could never deliver.

But I can honestly say they used to pack the most awesome picnic baskets. The only drawback was they charged upwards of $150 each...and that didn't include the wine.

I think "fast French food" is an oxymoron. Read the book "French Women Don't Get Fat". It's a very interesting read about the French culture and their approach to eating. Although- come to think of it, jambon au beurre (ham and butter on a baguette) is pretty quick food - but probably eaten slowly, thereby defeating the term "fast". Does "fast food" mean fast to prepare or eaten quickly?

French cuisine is considered "exquisite". YOU only will get it served at a French restaurant with table cloth and all the other fancy things a ***or higher restaurant offers! And YOU will have a chef!
When I was in Germany we went to the French border to get this type of cuisine! MERCI

I can't imagine what would constitute French fast food. Note that the French are known to take 3 hour lunch breaks. I don't think their culture has ever caught on the "fast" aspect -- which is quite admirable.

I don't think there is a lot of French Restaurants in comparison with others, could it be that there isn't a big demand for French food whether fast or not?.

There are French bistros in LA and NYC that have their version of fast food -- croque monsieur, croque madame, baguettes with rillettes. In France, the fast food is on the bar top, pre-pared.

French food typically takes alot of time to prepare and it wouldn't be economic to try do it enmasse.

Besides, not a lot of people I know would go to a Frenchie Quickie establishment.

"would you like snails with that?"

We vote with our wallets. If americans started to buy french food there would be some. There have been several attempts at it and they all failed due to lack of demand!
