Go to your local drug store and seek out Primatine Mist. It works like an inhaler and does a great job clearing all sinuses and flegm.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!
The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!
This page it will change your life and make you feel 100% better within just 24 hours!

Bronchitis should be treated with antibiotics, i suggest you go to your local doctor for a script of amoxcillan. Smoking however will not help the infection on your lungs or chest so i suggest you think of giving up smoking as it will only prolong your coughing

Stack up the pillows and sleep upright. That will help. Humidifiers usually help and load up on the fluids. Besides that some good over the counter stuff is Alka seltzer cold, Thera flu (even though you probably don't have the flu). Look for chest congestion medicines.

you can always go to a doctor for allergy testing.. If it is at night maybe you're allergic to dust mites? Do a search on ridding your bed of dust mites. As an expirment you can get rid of the mites and see if you sleep comfortably afterwards.
Check the store and see if you're comfortable with any of the over the counter ant-histamines (allergy meds)
They will make you drowsy so be cautious when taking.. and read the lable so you're okay when taking them.

i wake up most mornings wheezing and coughing up phelgm. My phelgm is clear though.I don't smoke, my doctor just says this is part of my asthma, because itmakes you over produce mucus. Try sleeping propped up more. Maybe your doctor can give you an inhaler to help, but you should't use it everyday. Ifyou need it that often than you need preventitive meds.

Sounds like a sinus infection, you'd better see a doctor right away for some antibiotics. Since you smoke, you can't rule out bronchitis too.

sorry to tell you , but the smoke is the thing causing it.......try to stop or moderate your smoking habits. also incorporate some sort of cardio exercise to help break it up.
