I agree, but nothing to knock anyone out over.

It's not authentic.
I am from the East Coast where the Hispanic community is primarily Puerto Rican, not Mexican. Taco Bell and Chi-Chi's were the closest I came to eating Mexican food until I moved to the West Coast.
With so many great Mexican places in LA, how does Taco Bell stay open?

I agree and it's funny the food they make up and give a mexican sounding name too. Then ppl think they are speaking spanish and try to go into a real mexican resturant and act like they are stupid for not having made up taco bell food. (yes I had a friend really think that)

Nor is Chi-Chi's or Chili's but people flock there.
Bennigan's isn't an authentic Irish bar, Olive Garden doesn't represent authentic Italian food and Outback isn't a place I'd consider for water, let alone steak.
Small town/Suburban America is seemingly obsessed with cheesy chain restaurants which are owned by two different corporations.

Very much so! I mean I'm not sure what exactly you think authentic Mexican food is, but I'm from Texas and I tell you what no other state compares, OK so I haven't dined close to the border in any other state...so I can't really back that up. But I myself love me some good ole Tex Mex! God I miss it!

Of course it isn't "authentic" Mexican food...but it certainly is inspired by Mexican cooking. You'd complain if anyone called it "American" food. It's a Mexican version of fast food...I sure don't cook the way McDonald's does, but they still call it American food.

Taco bell is not Mexican food by any means NOR IS IT MEXICAN FAST FOOD. It's not even Americanized Mexican food.

Are there any Mexican food places that actually make Mexican food? I guess when you put some meat and beans on a tortilla, it's supposed to be Mexican.
