The first outbreak appears within 2 weeks after you become infected and can last for several weeks. Recurrence of herpes outbreaks
In most people, the virus can become active and cause outbreaks several times a year. This is called a recurrence, and infected people can have symptoms. HSV remains in certain nerve cells of your body for life. When the virus is triggered to be active, it travels along the nerves to your skin. There, it makes more virus and sometimes new sores near the site of the first outbreak.

I got identified with genital herpes (type 2) about five yrs ago, while I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. The only way you would know you had anything like that STD/HIV is for you to have had sex unprotected sex with a person who had already had this and knew this and had sex with you. That is the only way you would know because they decided to tell you that they were infected while they got with you. Otherwise you will show NO symptoms and unless you were told or decided to get a certain blood Test you would not know, certain Sid's lay dormant in your body for a long time. Without even knowing this. But some STD'S show up (symptoms) within a two (2) week period.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. took me about five days ..it was very unnoticeable and not painfull at all it could have been there sooner ..
medically it should show up in 3-20 days
