had baby 6mths ago, breastfeeding helped lose lots of weight. trying to get body prepared to wean baby and not still crave lots of foods. Had to eat more carbs with breastfeeding to keep energy up. I've done low carb before but once you start eating bread again its over for you so i figured eating less meat or no meat at all would be much better alternative.

You may not lose even on a vegetarian diet. It's all about how you metabolize your food. If you know your blood type, try Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type. It worked well for me...lost 35 1bs no sweat and not hungry.

If you're choosing vegetarianism solely as a way to lose weight, you should know that it's not a magic bullet any more than the other diets you've tried.

If you're choosing it to be healthy, it's a great choice. There's no real health reason to stop eating meat in stages; there are abundant non-animal sources of protein, not to mention all the other nutrients you body needs, as long as you are eating a varied and balanced diet. If you think you'll have a hard time with it, you might want to start by cutting out red meat and then move onto pork, poultry and fish. But I stopped all at once and never looked back. It's really up to you.

If you cut out the meats, how do you plan on getting your protein? Just curious. I myself don't think I could ever do the vegetarian thing long term because I like meat, especially beef. I do like to have a Garden Burger once in a while for a change, but I don't find any of the other fake meat soy products very appetizing. Not getting enough protein will make you lose muscle, so maybe just cut out the fatty stuff, and only eat lean meats. Maybe cut out the beef, and eat fish, chicken breast, and turkey. If you crave a burger, have a Garden Burger, or do like my Mom and have a turkey burger. Ground turkey is pretty lean. Most Markets sell ground turkey, just make it into patties, and have it on a whole wheat bun, or with the fix-ins like the lettuce, tomato, etc, and no bun. My Mom used to use it in all her recipes that called for ground beef. Fish steak with some steamed vegetables on the side is really good for you, it's low calorie, low fat, and high in protein. Be careful that you get enough protein if you decide to cut all meats out. You may lose weight, but like I said you'll actually be losing muscle and not fat. You'll lose weight quickly, because muscle is heavier then fat, so you probably won't be happy with your appearance once you lose the initial weight and want to tone up, you wont have any muscle to tone. Good luck.

Vegetarian food is not a good way to lose weight..its all fiber and Carbohydrates...Unless you run everyday and or work out every day...It will not help you lose weight at all..If you are concerned with losing weight you probably dont have the most discipline lifestyle as far as eating is concerned...and to have a healthy and successful vegetarian diet,,,you need to extremely self disciplined and balanced because you need to supplement all other vitamins and proteins that you would get from eating meat through various forms of soy, tempeh, seitan, tofu, and beans. THE END

good luck ♥

why dont you do baby steps..cut red meat out of your diet...

Are you actually 10-15 lbs overweight? It's very easy to substitute fake meats for the real stuff. Veggy burgers, chicken patties etc. and all the items made by Morningstar Farms are lower in fat than their meat counterparts saving you calories there. One trap of going veg that will keep you from losing weight is to substitute cheese at every meal which is much fattier than chicken or lean beef. Add more veggies and fake meats, eat more whole grains so you feel full longer and take long hard look at your sugar consumption. That's what helped me. I've been veg for 15 years and I had to ditch cheese and all manner of chips and exercise regularly to get in shape.

Listen, first start by cutting down on junk and fast food completely, don't drink wine and start replacing junk and fast food with vegetables and salad, then start eating meat once a week, then stop eating red meat eat white meat because it doesn't have as much calories.

Start by cutting out beef, then move on to pork, chicken, etc. While you're cutting things out, start replacing them with other sources of protein. If you don't replace them, you'll get sick and not be able to stick with it.I'm doing that, myself.I've given up beef, but it's harder for me to give up everything else out of laziness.I'm fond of just slapping together a turkey sandwich, and we live in a small town without a lot of meat alternatives.I did it once before, and lost 10 pounds in just over a week.It was amazing. Now I'm doing it for environmental and moral reasons.Good Luck! It's worth it.

If you are 17 or younger dont quit eating meat beacause it is healthy part of growing up. if your older then 18 and you dont want to eat meat you have to take it step by step beacause if stop all of a sudden your healh will have a risk of getting hurt.

Dont stop eating meat just beacuse you want to lose weight beacuse that is very unhealthy

vegetarian is one who doesn't eat red meat usually. vegans eat nothing even remotely dealing with animals. won't even eat honey cuz it makes bees into slaves. seriously. whatever you're comfortable with. cutting red meat out of your diet will have some impact but you will still need some proteins in order to feed your muscles and such. I would suggest initially cutting out red meat and stick with boiled chicken or fish. obviously not fried or whatever but mainly boiled or grilled or baked.

You should ween your self off meat. look for vegetarian options. Like Boca sausages taste like real ones. make sure the man you live with is comfortable for a change.
Not to say it is wrong to be a single parent or married I just want to cover my bases. My dad supports my moms health habits, he just does not eat like her. Make sure to expose you child to all food try to prevent allergies.
