I was travelling with a bunch of americans and they insisted that one does not need to tip in London? I disagreed but i did not know for sure! Do you tip in Europe? Is it the same as in the west ...15-20%?

I lived in Europe most of my life. Wait staff gets payed actual money - unlike here. You tip to round up, as a sign of your appreciation. So if your bill were to be 22.75 Euro, you could leave 24 Euro, for example.

You ONLY tip in Europe IF THE SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL. The Tip (sometimes called "Service Compre) is already added to the cost of your meal so leaving an additional tip is not necessary. AND.. even if the service warrants an additional gratuity, it just needs to be a small amount... $0.25 or $0.50 would be more than sufficient... in this case it's the thought that counts...

Ten percent or nothing if the service is poor. If it is exceptional fifteen percent. In Ireland, most Irish people do not, and waiters do not expect, tips. In Italy, it is more or less the same. Bar staff in pubs in Ireland and U.K. are never tipped, occasionally they might be treated to a drink..............

You can tip whatever you please, but be aware that a 15% gratuity is already included in the bill they give you. When I'm in Europe I still tip a bit more when the service is good.

it depends where you go,

in the UK if you go into a small place for something to eat they probably do not add in a tip so if you think you got good service then go ahead and tip them, but its not usualy expected

you don't tip in bars/pubs but you can tell them to buy themselves a drink at your expense (it gets writen down and claimed later, usualy at the end of the night)

and usualy you tip taxi drivers, even if you just have them keep the change

Europe is a continent....it´s diffrent in every country. In Sweden you should not tip it already included with the food tax. However, in England you should....when you get your bill it uselly says " tip not included"....but tip any way...Yes, tip around 30%......if the serves been good....otherwise tip 12% if it´s been shitty.....
Remember it´s diffrent in diffrent countries.....
